Little Brick's Home School: October Sessions

Little Brick’s Home School will teach you practical home skills in an intimate, cozy setting. Our talented instructors want to share the tips and secrets that helped to grow their companies.  You’ll be able to take the techniques you learn from us, and pass them down to your friends and family, so they become yours.

The October Session features three incredible instructors and classes:

Pie Making Fundamentals

With Erica Vliengthart, Owner of Red Balloon Pie Company, Pastry Chef at District Coffee Co.

Whether you’re a seasoned baker or barely know your way around the kitchen, this demo will get you up to speed on the fundamentals of making pie.  You’ll learn how to make a variety of seasonal pies from start to finish, including pumpkin, apple caramel and pecan pie! We’ll show you some great tips and tricks for making beautiful flaky pie crust, baking a blind shell and making a lattice topping.

You’ll leave with a package of Red Balloon Pie Company pie dough, with recipe and method.

Harvest Arrangements

With Cory Christopher, Edmonton's favourite lifestyle designer

Edmonton’s gorgeous fall colours are the perfect inspiration for creating a lovely harvest arrangement.  In this hands on demo, you’ll learn how use seasonal elements to add a beautiful, handmade touch to your Thanksgiving table and will make a small arrangement of your own to take home.

Thanksgiving Wine Pairing

With Allan Suddaby, Executive Chef at Elm Café and Catering, International Sommelier Guild Level II Certification

Pick up some great ideas for what to drink with Thanksgiving dinner.  We'll taste a sparkling wine to serve as an aperitif before dinner, then two wines that pair well with a traditional turkey dinner, and finally a dessert wine that can be enjoyed with classic fall desserts like pumpkin pie.  A small snack will be included with the tasting.

You’ll leave with a list of wines you tasted and recommendations on where to buy them.

Tickets: $95 per person. Includes three classes and take-aways.
